After party featuring North Dakota at The Compound!
Hundreds of artists and party-goers rang in the new year at The Compound in Tempe. The residence was once again transformed into a live music and art show space by JJ Horner, Colton Brock, and Charles Darr, who throw the party annually and installed work by more than 50 local artists. Bonfires, rogue fireworks, and more than a few drunken fumbles aside, maybe 2012 will indeed be better.
Farmer Avenue & University Drive, Tempe
More than 60 artists (including The Molten Brothers, Lalo Cota, Colton Brock, and Jenny Ignaszewski) will participate in the art and culture extravaganza “Maybe 2012 Will Be Better.” Local bands like Biologia, Playboy Man Baby, North Dakota, and others will perform throughout the evening. 8 p.m., $10.
You gotta hand it to local art dudes JJ Horner, Colton Brock, and Charles Darr, for creating an annual NYE extravaganza that means more to The Valley than blacking out and barhopping.
This year’s edition, aptly titled Maybe 2012 Will Be Better will take place at Tempe art gallery/music venue/”zombie-proof campground,” The Compound, on the southeast corner of Farmer and University.
This year’s include an impressive list of art community members including Bucky Miller, Lalo Cota, Pablo Luna, Ryan Gentry, and JB Snyder, to name a few, and live performances by DJentrification, Sugar Thieves, Biologia, and Playboy Man Baby.
Food by JoBot Coffee and Farmer Woody will also be provided. And whether 2012 will be better or not, there’s no question local art, live music, plenty of booze, and multiple bonfires will be a pretty damn good start.
